Larger accomplished projects I’ve worked on. Handled the technical, business, and creative aspects of these projects.
Mutual Funds Magazine
founder, web design, graphic design, editor, writer
Mutual Funds was an online magazine I started when I was in high school. With my two partners, we built up a considerable amount of local clout for our magazine in Los Angeles.
We would have monthly publications with around 12 student writers. Aside from learning web design and increasing my writing skills, this project taught me how to recruit and manage a team in order to meet a deadline.
I loved this project, and I’m making a new, multi-media version of it called “mutualmediamagazine.com”. During the end of the magazine’s life, we switched industries and harnessed it as a business for college application consulting for highschool seniors.
Below is a video I made as part of a portfolio for my USC application demonstrating my web design role and the user interface of the magazine.
Ignatian Coding 501(c)
founder, tutor
Ignatian Coding was a 501(c) non-profit I started with two of my friends. This project administered free, volunteer-led web design classes to underresourced schools in Los Angeles. Aside from being a tutor, I created the lesson plans and recruited other student tutors.
Overall, we tutored 5 different schools in Los Angeles, with around 7 weekly class sessions per school, and approximately 70 students in total.
BabaJoonie
founder, product design, web design, manufacturing
BabaJoonie is a manufacturing company I started that produces 3d printed carbon filters for hookahs.
For this company, I designed the products with Fusion360, manufactured the product myself with various 3d printers, conducted in-person and digital marketing to smoke shops and hookah bars, web design, graphic design.
This project is what taught me CAD design and 3d production. Through this design process, I learned how much patience is required for trial and error to be effective. So many times I would get frustrated-- both in learning the process of sketch-to-CAD and with complications with the actual 3d printing. I learned to trust the process and keep advancing, regardless of my impatience.
I learned my own method of design, which starts with a paper sketch were I lay out all the parameters on paper. I then go on to pitch the design to my family and friends, gather their feedback, and then go on to design the actual product in Fusion360.
Below is:
A video showing the design process for the filters, which was part of my portfolio for my USC application.
CURRENT PROJECTS
Projects I've started this year and are still in progress
Snagit
An application that uses OCR technology to input prompts into GPT. Similar to how photo math uses OCR to solve math equations, Snagit will use the mobile phone’s input to solve conceptual problems or summarize the text and overall give an easier interface for mobile users.
(Snagit is a placeholder name)
TechLA
Newsletter organizing IRL tech events in Los Angeles
This application will work as a health monitor for elderly adults by harnessing the vital sign trackers on the Apple watch. The data collected from the apple watch will be uploaded to a cloud server, where concerned friends/family can monitor the health data from their iPhones.
SandBox DeCal
A project-based DeCal class that aims to
1.) give Cal students school credit for passion projects
2.) Foster collaboration on final projects from individuals experienced in different fields of design.
For applicants, we are looking for engineers, artists, architects, or any other type of designer that’s excited about collaborating on interesting projects.
Apply to the SandBox decal in 2023!
